La muerte tal como me fue contada

To die is to have one’s time stop, and yet all that one was and continues to be, is left in one’s wake. The series explores the topographies of mourning in the wake of my parents’ deaths in 2025.

Against an insistence grief be resolved quietly, the images make visible the structures of mourning, the rituals of maintenance, the economies of belief, substitution and illusion through which the living negotiate absence. Sorrow is a physical thing that occupies space and leaves traces, what is covered, worn and left behind. This devotion without certainty, the repeated gestures and the acts of keeping come to be to be grounded in light, landscapes and objects that attend to memory.
